Reverberations of Love, currently showing at Assemble in Pittsburgh through August 2019, explores the visual representation of sound and aspects related to sound, through digital art and mixed media mediums. Sound comes in many forms, from the words we speak to the sound of musical instruments. The work in this exhibition focuses primarily on capturing the visual representation of positive words and phrases including, but not limited to “I Love You”, “You Are Loved”, “Peace, Love, Light” from various participants of different races, genders and ethnicities.

Why sound? And why positive words or healing sounds?

Sounds are all around us. Just like anything else in our world, sounds can be positive or negative. Sound, including the words we speak, become vibrations that travel through the air. They are called traveling longitudinal waves, which we can hear and thanks to advances in technology, see as well. (Method behind the music.com)

The words we speak, are created by air passing through our voice box which creates vibrations in the air that we can hear.

According to sound healing practitioners, sounds are not only vibrations in the air and things we hear with our ears, they are more powerful than that. Sounds have the power to actually heal the human body!

If certain kinds of sounds can heal, it’s possible that the sounds and the words you surround yourself with and that you are exposed to, can be healing as well which is why positive words ( words associated with love) and positive sounds are depicted in visual form but also in audible form in this exhibition.
